Young Entrepreneur: Robin Hoong
Course: Advanced Diploma in Interior Design
'Most say that classes at school are very slowly paced and irrelevant, but I strongly disagree. At Raffles Design Institute, the classes are very similar to action design situations and timeframes. Punctuality and pressing deadlines… are all part of industry.' - Robin Hoong
Working as a freelance interior designer and consultant, Robin Hoong, a June 2004 graduate from the Advanced Diploma in Interior Design programme has been kept busy by a steady stream of projects.
In the past year, he has collaborated with design firms such as 6dimension, SpaceOne Interior Design and Felkcon Interior, and taken on large commercial projects such as Century Cineplex Tampines, Café Cartel, The Australian Embassy, and produced conceptual designs for OCBC Bank and Subzero Cold Bar.
He is currently working on an exciting series of residential projects, and will be revamping an apartment into a snazzy bachelor pad this year.
Robin describes his experience at Raffles Design Institute as 'exciting' and 'fulfilling', and is grateful to his lecturers for their guidance and support during his two years here. He modestly attributes his success to the wealth of knowledge from lecturers and the conducive studying environment.
