High Achiever: Joseph Tan
“I feel that Raffles EducationCorp College’s InfoComm Security programme is very unique where it covers all the necessary knowledge and skills required for a career in IT field and also, it prepares us for professional certifications such as MCP, MSCA, MSCE and CEH. It is very rewarding for us where having professional certifications in addition to my academic qualifications; it will positively increase my employability chances. Each module is conducted in an interactive way with lots of hands-on practical component for the students. The skills that we learn in class today are the technologies that companies are currently using in the business world. It will really benefit us.” -Joseph Tan As a full time IT Administrator in a Japanese MNC, Joseph realised that he has to continually upgrade his skills in order to climb up the corporate ladder and to contribute significantly to his company. This is especially so in the IT industry where newer set of skills and knowledge will be constantly and rapidly replacing the old set of skills required. In addition, he is determined to attain a Advanced Diploma and degree qualification where it would be a confidence booster for him. Choosing between pursuing individual IT certification professional courses or for academic qualifications, Joseph has made sense of the total course fees required for each professional course and as well for the academic courses offered in the respective schools in Singapore. He decided to enroll for Raffles EducationCorp College’s Advanced Diploma in InfoComm Security programme which has included several IT professional certifications’ topics in its’ curriculum and the programme equips students with both theoretical and practical knowledge. It would be unwise if he is to enroll for individual professional courses, then followed by academic courses in monetary terms. And also it shortens his time to acquire relevant professional certifications and eventually academic qualifications. Asked if the course would add value to his employability, he countered: “It has been very exciting to know that REC College has incorporated the EC-Council Certified Hacker (CEH) course into their InfoComm Security programme. Being the pioneer batch of students to receive the CEHv6 award, it has definitely equipped me with the industry renowned IT security skills that absolutely has enhanced my portfolio and provides value added skills for my employer.” |
