High Achiever: Michael Chin 
“Definitely I will pursue my Bachelor degree with Raffles EducationCorp College. I had a fruitful learning journey for my Advanced Diploma course in InfoComm Security. Technology and job requirements will not be the same as my career progresses. I will need to continuously upgrade myself and I strongly believe that Raffles EducationCorp College’s Bachelor degree programme can further equip and enhance me with the skills and knowledge for my career in the long run.” Despite the negative economy outlook, Michael successfully attained a full time employment as a Networks & Computer Systems Administrator within two weeks after his completion of Advanced Diploma in InfoComm Security with REC College in Jan 2009. His job posting as a Networks & Computer Systems Administrator requires him to manage and administrate over 200 Personal Computer users, business critical servers, networks and other IT services in the company headquarter as well as its branches in the island. In addition, in recognition of his work capability, he is also being appointed to be part of the project team working on the company’s IT infrastructure expansion. When asked on his goals set for his first career, he reverted that he is glad that he can actively contribute his skills learnt from the InfoComm Security programme in his work. And he aims to prove himself and to climb up the corporate ladder gradually. He shared in excitement that the knowledge gained from the Advanced Diploma course is very relevant and has given him an advantageous start in his IT career as compared to his peers. “I’m glad that Raffles College’s InfoComm Security programme covers the content of numerous Industrial Certifications such as MCSA, MCSE and CEH, which definitely doubles up my market value and employment chances. With this unique InfoComm Security programme, I’m able to successfully pass the MCP and CEH examinations during my course of study. With these industrial certifications coupled with my academic certifications, it instills my confidence during interview and now, in work.” Remising the days during his course of study at Raffles EducationCorp College, Michael recalled that Raffles EducationCorp College has provided him a great learning experience in obtaining the relevant knowledge and to expand his social network. “Sometimes we will occupy the computer laboratory after class to do our experiments on infrastructure setups and hacking techniques which I believe that this is not possible in other institutes or even at work.” He also commented that he loves the culture at Raffles EducationCorp College where students would readily share information and opinions, and that creates a positive learning environment for him. |
