Thank you REC College!" - Samarakoon Chanaka Samarakoon Chanaka is currently employed by Sentosa Leisure Group working as Banquet Supervisor for Sentosa Food and Beverage Department. He graduated with the Advanced Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Raffles EducationCorp College (REC College). The young and energetic lad landed the job just three weeks after graduation. Chanaka begins his career as a management trainee in the Food and Beverage department. He is taught the fundamentals of the Food and Beverage daily operations such as dining setup and waitering. "The learning at Raffles has definitely help me in managing small teams as we often grouped together for assignments and projects in school", said Chanaka, whom within six months, is assigned to a more challenging task of supervising events held within the department. His routine task has evolved to planning and organising. Though it is a more challenging phase of his career, his friends and colleagues especially his family helped to motivate him to excel better in the job. Like many others, Chanaka has always wanted to work in the hospitality industry and the drive and passion that he has for the industry is what keeps him going. |
