High Achiever: Siti Radiah
Course: Advanced Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management

"I chose Hartford Institute to pursue my Advanced Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management because the modules offered were very relevant and will definitely help in my career and the fact that Hartford's city campus is very near to my workplace, I can come for lessons on time." - Siti Radiah

Striking a balance between work and studies was no easy job for Siti Radiah. It takes sheer perseverance and effort to be able to juggle between a full time job and a part time studies, not forgetting leisure time for herself.

As a Guest Services Agent (Front Office) with a five star rating hotel in Singapre, Siti works with hotel staffs such as porters, message clerks, F&B staffs, airport representatives and even car valets to look after guests and attend to their needs in all matters possible. As much as it seemed like a relatively easy job, it is in actual fact demanding especially dealing with different guests.

Her ability to juggle both work and studies at the same time started all the way back during her ITE days. Reminiscing her time in ITE then, Siti remembered how she had to attend school, undergo her traineeship and at the same time holding another part time job as a Barista.

"It was tough for me to be able to cope with 2 jobs and attending school at the same time. But with a bit of hard work and perserverance, my efforts were paid off well."

Not wanting to stop at having a National ITE Certificate, she knew that to enhance her career opportunities, she must further her studies. Twice a week, Siti is also a student with Hartford Institute, pursuing her Advanced Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality. Portraying a keen interest in the service industry and being a service staff herself, making the decision to take up the Advanced Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality was a clear and easy option. She was also inspired by her hotel managers whom she knew had started from non-executive positions to becoming successful managers today.

Looking ahead, Siti would like to pursue her Bachelors' Tourism degree with Raffles School of Business after she complete her Advanced Diploma. Her advice to all is to trust your own instincts and work hard to pursue your dreams and to embrace the concepts of continuing learning.
