CIP-DONGHUA UNIVERSITY ACCREDITATION. |
| 1. Donghua University Accreditation: |
Donghua University is a public university under the direct management of China Ministry of Education. Donghua University is one of China State-Key Universities under the "211 Development Project" which has the privilege to a wide range of development priority supported by the central government. This project is aimed for the purpose of entering China 21st century with the establishment of 100 outstanding universities out of 1000 universities in China. |

To graduate, CIP students must meet the following requirements:
Currently, CIP students are coming from various countries such as, Indonesia, Brazil, Colombia, South Korea, Pakistan, US, Germany, Netherland, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and many others. |

| 5. Donghua University Campuses: |
Donghua University has two campuses. CIP International courses are conducted at Yan'an Campus, which is located in the inner city of Shanghai. The other Songjiang Campus is located in Songjiang University Town. |
APPLICATION & SCHOLARSHIPS. |
| 1. Admissions Process: |
After a student has submitted the Application Form and the required documents, notification of admissions results will be emailed within 15 working days and the official admission package will be sent within 2 weeks. However, if a student applies later than the application deadline, the student will only receive email notification and not the official admission letter. |
| 2. Late Application: |
Students, who missed the Application Deadline, please consult Raffles Consultants for admissions. If late application can still be submitted, these late arrival students are responsible to talk to the lecturers to make up and catch on the missed lessons. |
| 3. Credit Transfer to CIP Courses: |
For transfer of credits to CIP Courses, please submit academic transcripts and the course syllabus/modules. The maximum credits which can be transferred are 30 credits. |
| 4. Application Fee Payment: |
Application Fee payment can be made directly at school through cash or Chinese debit cards. |
| 5. Installment Payment and Refund: |
Tuition fees for the 4 year Bachelor Degree studies are payable in installments at every semester. Only Chinese currency is acceptable. Visa or MasterCard is unacceptable. Bank wire transfer is not recommended. |
| 6. CIP Scholarships: |
"Freshmen Scholarship" is applicable for newly enrolled students to be granted half tuition fee waiver of the 2nd semester fee. Freshmen Scholarship Application must be submitted in advance and together with submission of CIP Application Form. Eligible students must provide the followings:
"Excellent Student Scholarship" is applicable for 3rd semester students to be granted partial tuition fee payment for the following semester. |
| 7. Change Of Major In The Middle Of Studies: |
| Change of majors is possible within the first 2 years as courses conducted in the first 2 years are fundamental courses applicable for both majors in Management in Business Administration and Economics in International Trade. |
ADMISSIONS & ENROLLMENT |
| 1. CIP Credit System: |
CIP adopts a credit system where students can choose the courses required and offered in every semester. So it is possible that students from semester 1 have classes with students enrolled in different semesters. |
| 2. CIP Grading Structures: |
The final grade for each major course includes 30% of daily performance (classroom participation, assignments, quizzes, and so on), 10% of attendance, and 60% of final exam/project. |
| 3. Chinese Language Courses: |
No Chinese skills are required to enroll and start the course. But international students are required to reach certain levels of comprehensive Chinese Language and Business Chinese to graduate. |
| 4. Attendance: |
If a student has to miss a class, or coming in late, or leave early due to personal reasons, the student will need to get the permission from the lecturers or academic advisor. For absence due to health reasons, students will need to provide doctor's notes. |
| 5. Failing a Course: |
If a student fails a course, the student will be given an opportunity to have make-up exam during the registration of the next semester. If fail again, the student will be required to repeat the course when it is open. For each repeat credits, the fee is approximately at CNY.250. |
| 6. Individual Tutorial: |
The school will be able to arrange one to one tutorial, such as Math or HSK, on need basis. Tutorial sessions will be conducted in the teaching building. The fee is approximately at CNY 100/hour. Tutorials at night, weekend, or holidays would be more costly. |
| 7. School Holidays: |
The university only closed for Chinese National Holidays and other academic holidays such as, Spring out or Sports day. Make up classes will be arranged for these holiday periods. |
VISA |
| 1. X Visa: |
Students from certain countries are required to have X visas to enter China (for further updates, please consult the local Chinese embassies/consulates). Documents required to apply for the X Visa are:
Students with X visa can stay up to 30 days in China. If a student applies for CIP within 1.5 months before the semester starts, the school will not send an official admission package which includes the documents required for X visa application. Instead, the student will need to apply for an L Visa to enter China. |
| 2. L Visa: |
Students from certain countries can come to China without any visas (for further updates, please consult the local Chinese embassies/consulates). Students from Japan and Singapore can only stay in China for 15 days, but we need about 3 weeks to apply for the Resident Permit. So we recommend these students to apply for an L visa to come to China. Students with L Visa can stay in China for either 30 or 60 or 90 days. |
| 3. Resident Permit (RP Study): |
The school will help international students to apply for the student visa, which is Resident Permit (RP study). RP is the multiple entries permit and legal residence certificate issued by the Ministry of Public Security of China. |
| 4. Resident Permit Validity: |
The RP for new students would be valid for 1 year, after which the school will help to extend the RP until the end of the study period and based on student's performance. The expiry date of an RP cannot be later than the expiry date of a student's passports. After completion of studies and if the Resident Permit expires before the student leaves China, the school can help to prepare related documents to cancel the Resident Permit and to re-apply for 1 month temporary visa (L visa). |
| 5. Documents Required for RP Application: |
Students need to get the Health Certificate from the designated hospital. Shanghai International Travel Health Centre address is at No.15 Jin Bang Rd. (near Ha Mi Rd.). |
| 6. Temporary Residence: |
|
For students living on campus, Students Service Department will provide the Registration Form of Temporary Residence. For students living off campus, students will need to get DongHua University approval letter. Then with the passport and lease contract, the students need to go to a local police station within 24 hours after arriving China, to apply for the Temporary Residence permit. |
| 7. Residence Permit Fees: |
|
Students will need to go to the visa center to submit their Resident Permit Application. Residence Permit will take approximately 1 week to process. |
| 8. Visa Application for Family: |
|
The school can help to apply for tourist visa for student's spouse, children under 18 years old, parents or foreign guardians of students under 18 years old. The visa is a single entry permit valid for 3 or 6 months. Documents required are relative's original passport, a photo, Registration Form of Temporary Residence of the relative and its copy, an application letter issued by the school, the student's original and copy of residence permit, a certificate in English or Chinese which proves the relationship between the student and the relatives, and its copy. |
| 9. Deferment: |
|
If a student defers, the school will cancel the student's visa and may help to get a temporary visa. |
ACCOMMODATION & CAMPUS LIFE |
| 1. International Students Apartments (ISAs): |
|
Accommodations at ISAs are only available to CIP and DongHua students. Rent Payment for one semester is to be made in full during the registration with Cash or Chinese Debit Card. No Visa or MasterCard. Only Chinese currency is acceptable. |
| 2. Dormitory Refund: |
|
If a student decides to move out in the middle of a semester, refund is applicable if the student has paid off all the rent fees, over limit electricity bills, over limit hot water fees, return of the room card, and the room has been kept in a good condition. Calculation of actual rent will be based on the periods a student is living in the dormitory, and the refund will be based on the unused amounts. |
| 3. Laundry: |
|
Every other floor of the International Student Apartments has automatic washing machines. The laundry card is required for washing clothes with automatic washing machines. A laundry room is also available with services such washing and dry cleaning |
| 4. Dormitory Internet Access: |
|
Monthly charge for 1MB internet access with no time limit is approximately at CNY. 65. Refund for cancellation of internet access will be based on usage days. |
| 5. Campus Cafeteria: |
|
There are 2 dining halls on Yan'an Campus and 1 Muslim cafeteria. A rechargeable food card is required and it can be cancelled for a refund. There are also 2 restaurants on campus, where students can pay with cash. |
| 6. DongHua University Library: |
|
Library card will be issued after registration. A designated place called, Home of International Students, is where magazines, books, internet access, printing and copying services are available. |
| 7. Sport Facilities: |
|
Student Identification booklet is required to use DHU sport facilities such as, gym, table tennis room, indoor and outdoor basketball field, indoor badminton field, outdoor tennis field, track, soccer ball field, and other sports fields. |
| 8. Sponsored Traveling: |
|
Every semester, the school arranges an autumn outing for international students with some financial support. Ex. For Xi an trip in 2009, the school paid RMB.800 and each students paid RMB.500. |
| 9. Mobile Phone Sim Card, Transportation card, and Bank Card: |
|
Mobile Phone Sim cards can be purchased at the stores on campus or mobile phone sales networks. Transportation card can be purchased at the metro station or appointed super markets like KEDI and HAODE. Opening of a Bank Account at all bank branches will required passport verification. |
| 10. Extra-Curricular Activities: |
|
There are free workshops related to language and cultural studies. CIP also invites successful professionals such as, middle or high level manager working in different type of industries, to give presentations. Intensive business related activities will be arranged in the immersion week. Other activities are Welcome Party, International Cultural Festival, International Forum, Chinese Corner International Student Talents Competition, New Year Party, Volunteer Activities, Excursions, Dragon Boat Competition, Table Tennis Competition, and more. There are also international student associations with sub organizations such as,volunteer club, dragon dance club, soccer club, latin dance club, flower arrangement club, photography club, model club, and so forth. At the beginning of every semester, all the student organizations will recruit new members. Some group activities will charge some material costs, but most activities are free to students. |

Entry Requirement:
Transcripts of current high school results are required for submission at the time application is made. Complete transcripts will be required for submission after a student has graduated from high school. Any transcript, secondary or post-secondary educational credentials, or documentation issued in a language other than English or Chinese must be sent with an authenticated (notarized or certified) English or Chinese translation. * An applicant whose native language is not English and/or a student who has been in a country or province where English is not the official language must submit a score of TOEFL or IELTS. *The TOEFL Institution code of Donghua University is 4422. Conditional Admission:
Freshmen ScholarshipApplication for Scholarship is available for newly-enrolled outstanding foreign students and is limited to 5 quotas in each country of recruitment by CIP Requirement: Achieving IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL (PBT) 550 and above (or equivalent), and outstanding high school performance. Awards: Scholarship winner will receive tuition waiver up to 50% of the 1st semester's tuition. Application Process: CIP will review through all documents submitted and arrange for an interview with applicant. Successful applicant will be notified after the interview and should register within the given timeframe. If an applicant does not register in time for the Semester, it will be deemed as giving up the Scholarship Award and this Scholarship Award shall not be transferrable to 3rd party. |
