Introduction

If you have always been fascinated by how people think and behave differently from each other; and you probably know better about what’s going on in someone else’s head than the owner does; and you want a career that allows you to help people sort out their feelings; pursuing an education in Applied Psychology will let you discover the art of human thinking and behavior.

Psychology is the science of mental processes: the systematic study of behaviour. It is a study of humans at all stages in their lives from birth to old age, assessing how humans think and use ideas, how they vary in personality and behaviour and how they are influenced by external environment stimuli from work, school, family and lifestyle.

The result of a psychologist’s work will normally sort out a patient’s thoughts by teaching them how to cope better in life and deal with negative emotions effectively. An education in Psychology will allow you to enter fields such as Business, Government and Education. A psychologist in the government will serve in one of the sectors of the industry.

What can you do with a psychology degree?
For example, a psychologist working with the police can carry out studies on criminal behavior and thinking. This will help the public avoid falling victim to crimes and help the authorities arrest criminal masterminds by predicting their actions. Psychologists in Education normally help students in an institute to cope with their problems. Sometimes, they work with teachers to develop better curriculum systems for educations tailored for students with special needs.

If you are clueless as to which course to take and want the most options available, getting a Degree in Applied Psychology is not a bad idea. Plenty of industries in modern society need psychology more than we think. Aside from the usual career paths, you can venture into areas requiring high understanding of human behavior. These areas include Sales, which requires you to understand your client’s feelings; Human Resource, which requires you to find someone with the right mentality for the job; and even Events, which requires you to work around highly stressed personnel.

If you want a career in studying and improving human nature, pursuing a Degree in Applied Psychology will qualify you for jobs in the industry.
