Biomedical Science Sector to grow in Singapore!
 In a recent article in Today, Singapore was identified as the top destination of choice for Biomedical Science professionals in the region. The demand for Biomedical Science graduates will be increasing and the Economic Development Board (EDB) is expecting a growth of 5 to 10 percent this year for this sector. Therefore, it is an opportune time for applicants interested in Biomedical Science to embark on their studies with us (equipped with a Biomedical Lab) and be ready for the growing industry in Singapore.

One of RSB's Applied Psychology student, – Miss Jamie Fok was featured by The New Paper to share with students who are interested in pursuing a career in psychology to embark on his/her education with Raffles. Jamie enjoyed her study in Raffles as the lecturers went the extra mile to provide real-life and hands-on experience.
In addition, all Raffles Psychology lecturers are of Doctorate qualifications. They are Dr Monica Walet (Programme Coordinator), Dr Anna Leybina and Dr Dariusz Piotr Skowronski.

Raffles Privato
Paragon Shopping Centre short-listed 7 promising fashion designers after attending RDI's Graduation Fashion Show in December 2009. The short-listed fashion designers were tasked to develop their graduation collections into commercially viable pieces to be retailed at Paragon Shopping Centre, located at the heart of Orchard Road – Singapore’s premier shopping district. Dubbed “Raffles Privato”, this incubator project aims to assist up-and-coming designers to set up and showcase their own private labels.
Graphic Design students were also challenged to design the corporate identity for Raffles Privato while the store concept was designed by Interior Design students. In addition, the boutique will be managed by Fashion Marketing students as part of their hands-on learning experience.

Cyber Museum |

Interior Design students took part in a 3D Cyber Museum competition recently to convert the present Raffles Design Institute campus into a Design Museum. The inspiration of students’ perspective of the museum focused on the history of Raffles Design Institute ever since it was established in 1990 and to showcase Raffles Designers’ works and achievements throughout the years.

Raffles Designers made us proud this year with all 12 finalists representing Raffles Design Institute at the Triumph Inspiration Award 2010
Congratulations to the Top 3 winners
National Winner - Ms Grace Eliana Sugiarto, with the design piece “Preserved Beauty”
Ist Runner-Up - Ms Foo Jia Wen, with the design piece "My Ideal Sexuality”
2nd Runner-Up - Ms Sandar Aung, with the design piece "Touch The Solid Mass"
This is the 3rd consecutive year that RDI won the national finals to represent Singapore to compete internationally. Grace, like past winners i.e. Afton Chen (competed in Beijing 2008) and Ada Yeong (competed in Milan 2009), will represent Singapore to compete in London this year.

Orchard Road celebrated fashion with Peugeot. Themed, Fashion Season @ Orchard, the entire Orchard Road comes to life and teeming with activities like longest catwalk, beauty workshops, Asia Model Contest and fashion photography exhibition. Ms Michelle Liu, graduated in December 2009 was selected by the organiser to design a "skin" for the Peugeot car, the Grand Prize of the lucky draw. Michelle will be drawing inspiration from her graduation collection to design the motif to be applied on the car.

One of RDI's recent graduate in Graphic Design, – Mr Abel Lim was featured by The New Paper to share with students who are interested in pursuing a career in graphic design to embark on his/her education with Raffles. Abel shared about how our programmes helped to put his career on a fast track, studying from a pool of international lecturers and the strong industry collaboration RDI has with the industry.
Abel also participated in the designing of poster at the media event for the new fragrance by Diesel - Only the Brave!
