New Facility: Biomedical Science Laboratory
 
 

Professor Graeme Britton, Dean for Science and Technology with the presence of College Director, Mr. Ong Kai How officially launched the newly completed Biomedical Science laboratory. During the briefing session with students, Professor Graeme Britton noticed smiles and excitement on the faces of students when they first entered the laboratory. The laboratory is ready and fully equipped with binocular microscopes, spectrophotometer, oven, incubator, electrophoresis power supply, electrophoresis chamber, microcentrifuge and micropipette sets. Students were pleasantly surprised by the transformation and the excitement on their faces brightened up the laboratory when they entered the lab for the very first time.



 
 


Professor Britton shared with the Raffles students that Raffles College is the first and only private institution to have its own biomedical laboratory. Professor Britton also highlighted to the students the importance of the laboratory in complementing their studies in the areas of research and experiments.

Raffles Students Conquer Pulau Ubin

Raffles Education Corporation College lecturers made a joint effort to organize a quest to students into practicing their theoretical knowledge of Communication, Leadership and Management skills. Each student was given a chance to experience actual planning, deployment, budgeting and team work. Prior to the quest that was arranged, students had fun whilst role playing and the opportunity to tour around the rustic island.

The mission for each team was to strategize its movements on bicycles to explore 11 huts on the island in the most efficient manner. Upon reaching each hut, each team was to complete the designated task before proceeding to the next. The first team to complete the mission wins the contest. The “Psychology” team was the Champion of the 2009 Pulau Ubin Quest.



Raffles Students Conquer Pulau Ubin

Students presented their dissertation to the faculty members of the Psychology Programme headed by Dr Monica Walet and students from the Specialist Diploma in Applied Psychology programme. The presentation covered details about the student’s research topic, research topic methodology, literature review, data collection, analyses results and area of further discussion. The purpose of the research project is to demonstrate the student’s ability to undertake research and communicate their results in applied psychology. Student’s dissertations were exhibit at the lobby area welcoming comments and suggestions from all.
